Found an orphaned baby squirrel??
Then immediately contact the nearest Rehabilitator, Vet, or Natural resources Dept. for help.... Do Not Delay.... The longer you wait, the less chance the baby has of surviving... DON'T try to care for babies, without help, if you've never successfully raised squirrels before.

Arrived 01 February - These Pinkies, as we refer to babies this young, are 3-5 days old and have absolutely no hair.... Our 1st arrivals of the season, they were rescued by a young lady named Tuesday when the tree their mother had nested in was pushed over by a bulldozer.. They weighed in at 17 grams....
15 Feb 98 - Now 18 Days Old, Thelma and Louise are doing great thanks to Dixie's constant vigil. They are growing like weeds and have now started putting on their baby fur... Their eyes will open in about 2 weeks. Their whiskers are getting long and their tails are starting to take on a silvery-gray color. They now weighed in at 36 and 40 grams....

Arrived 20 February - Like the two females above, these three little males were also orphaned by bulldozers clearing land. Delivered to the Battery Creek Veterinary Hospital and referred to us, they're right at 5 weeks old. We expect their eyes to open within the next day or two. They appear to be very healthy and weigh 80, 90, and 91 grams....
Acting Like a Squirrel - at 5-6 weeks old, their upper front teeth begin to emerge. They start curling their tail over their back. Naturally the box has to get bigger and it will soon be time for a cage as they start to explore.

Arrived 23 February - This little boy and girl have a little brother that's not shown in this picture.... You see, he's in intensive care being treated for a head injury.... The three were found on the ground beside their mother who didn't survive... We don't know if she died as a result of the fall or if she died protecting these little ones.. We will do our best to finish what their mother can't, raising these little ones and returning them to the wild.
Little Brother - Is responding very well to treatment. With a reduction in the swelling of his head, we have moved him out of intensive care and believe he will survive. In the photo, you can still see some noticeable swelling but with continued treatment it to will heal. They've all been reunited and we expect all will be successfully released.....

Thank you Lord for the meal I'm about to receive.... - All of our squirrels have been released back into the wild.... All are doing well and we enjoy watching them play in the trees around our house...
Wow, this tree climbing is hard work !- Pictured here and above is one our PINKIES..... She visits us several times a day and will sit here until we fill the feeder if it's empty....
Almost Ready - Rusty and Charlie came to us from Savannah... They were raised by Perry and Suzanne Dadds who did an outstanding job. They asked us to prepare them to be released in a safe place.... Pictured here in our new outside pre-release pen, they are enjoying their new nest box.... We will use this box as their temporary nest after release... They will eventually move into a nest which they will instinctively begin to build as soon as we release them....
Gimme My Baba....Though now full grown, this little flyer still loves his bottle... Note the curious albino peeking from the box behind....

Ever Seen 20 Baby Squirrels ?? - Well, thanks to tropical storm Earl, we now know what 20 babies looks like...  As you can see, they range in ages from 3-5 days to 5 weeks...   Talk about feeding time blues...  Dixie has her hands full with one end or the other of a baby squirrel all day and half the night....  Thank goodness we have released all our early season babies cause we are definitely going to need the room soon....  Also, Emerald City (our large outside pen) has been completed and we now have plenty of room for these babies to prepare for return to the wild.
Is it a Boy or Girl ? - We've been asked how to tell male from female so often this season, I decided to add a visual aid.  In the photo, the baby on the left is a male and the one on the right is a female...  This is easily distinguishable in babies of all ages.....

There's lots of Nuts out here... - No, he's not talking about me either...   This is one of our eight latest released babies as he enjoys rummaging around under the oaks in our yard.   All twenty of the above pictured squirrels have also been released back to Nature.   So far we have released over 40 babies and still have 10 more to go.   All are doing great and really getting into the thing they do naturally...
Weaning can be messy. - These are the latest additions to the Flying Squirrel population.   During the process of learning to eat, they really get into the formula...   The original flyers have all be released back into the wild.   These have now finished the weaning process and are happily flying around the outside pre-release cage.   They are also keeping one of our gray squirrels company as they share a nest box with him.   Snowy, the albino Flyer doesn't quite know what to think of them yet but, he'll soon come around and join in the flying fun...
